There’s additional versatility here, as these styles are intended to coordinate with the Collective Time Carpet collection, a 2014 Neocon Gold recipient.”

Product Detail
Collective Time Resilient, a collection of sheet vinyl and plank products, is constructed with high performance components, including ExoGuard quartz-enhanced urethane for severe traffic and intensive use spaces. Intrigued by the body’s natural rhythm and light cycles, our team used wearable technology to track our daily routines and record cycles of sleep and wakefulness – using the data as inspiration for the patterns in the collection. Collective Time is designed to help simplify the interior surroundings and create a visual calm.

Because healthcare clients prefer a cohesive design that is not visually sterile, Collective Time was designed to provide flexibility within a space. Clients can mix styles to create unique installations, enhance way-finding and provide an additional layer of design. There are three styles in the collection - each featuring a woven visual texture:

Chordinates Best of NeoCon SilverJune 10, 2013

Dalton, GA—June 10, 2013 — For the second year in a row, Shaw Commercial Hard Surface has earned a Best of NeoCon award at this year’s conference in Chicago. Chordinates, their latest commercial sheet vinyl, has captured the Silver Award in the Healthcare flooring category.

"Shaw Commercial Hard Surface is excited to be a Best of NeoCon winner for the second year in a row. Our team has done a great job of creating products that are as timeless in design as they are durable" says Steve DeCarlo, Vice President Commercial Hard Surface. The collection is comprised of solid BassTones and Striped ChromaTones. "Chordinates offers an innovative color system that combines in a way that is both flexible and highly functional. It is ideal for creating coordinated spaces throughout a facility."

Pamela Rainey, Design Director, was inspired to develop the offset stripe pattern in ChromaTones after noticing a growing trend to create area rug design effects for hard surface flooring systems, especially within the healthcare segment. "We recognized the movement toward making institutional spaces feel more residential, but custom cutting can be costly and go out of fashion quickly. Our ChromaTone visual allows specifiers to incorporate interesting and functional design elements without additional expense or risk of looking dated before the floor will be replaced." Additionally, this collection is the first in the industry to offer an extended 10 year warranty under hospital beds when installed with Shaw's exclusive one-part adhesives, simplifying the process of creating an area rug look.

Each ChromaTone is made from combining four BassTones in two offset bands of stripes, which can be cut into tiles and arranged for geometric insets. The color line is designed to be a complementary pallet scheme allowing for functional and appealing designs. "The system is really easy to work with because colors are in families and can be combined in countless ways," explains Rainey. BassTones features 20 neutrals and eight brights, all with an new "felted" visual for a more modern look. The Chordinates collection is engineered for high traffic environments and contains ExoGuard™ Quartz Enhanced Urethane and FlorSept™ Antimicrobial.

Chordinates is unique in that it synchronizes the life of the design with the long physical life associated with heterogeneous sheet vinyl. Knowing that healthcare flooring will be installed for 20 years or more, Shaw was inspired to develop a visual that would not become dated before the product life cycle expires. "Finding harmony between design and performance is a hallmark of Shaw's commitment to offering durable, stylish resilient flooring for the commercial market," DeCarlo states, "we will continue to innovate and strive to introduce products that inspire and simplify flooring installation for our clients."

Quiet Cover is manufactured from 72 percent recycled material, 39 percent of which is made from postconsumer material. All products are FloorScore certified for low VOC emissions an have an added antimicrobial to defend against bacteria and fungi.

Shaw Hard Surface Quiet Cover Wins Best of Neocon GoldJune 14, 2012

Dalton, GA – June 14, 2012 – Shaw Hard Surface earned a Best of NeoCon Gold award in the hard surface category for Quiet Cover with In*Step, an innovative floating luxury vinyl plank. This versatile flooring is the ultimate solution for commercial end users as it installs quickly without the use of adhesive and has high moisture tolerances.

Quiet Cover requires less subfloor preparation because it can go directly over concrete slabs testing up to 95% RH and 10 lbs calcium chloride. “Quiet Cover solves so many problems that our customers regularly face on job sites. So often slabs are too wet for normal glue down installation, and moisture mitigation is an expensive proposition.” says Allie Finkell, marketing manager for Shaw Hard Surface.

Another positive aspect of the floating installation is immediate occupancy in the space. “Quiet Cover can be walked on as soon as it’s installed because there is no adhesive that has to set.” explains vice president of resilient sales, Dave Thoresen. “In this competitive economic climate, time is money, and Quiet Cover allows our customers to get back to business faster.”

Planks are locked together using the innovative In*Step tongue and groove design. This four-sided profile makes installation of Quiet Cover easy and ensures a tight fit between seams that won’t separate under commercial traffic. “Other floating plank products have a tendency to ‘walk’ or move in commercial spaces, but the In*Step profile is precision milled to keep planks secure,” Thoresen notes. Additionally, Quiet Cover contains an innovative silencing layer that reduces sound transfer and complies with IIC ratings required for many multifamily housing buildings—even without an underlayment.

Quiet Cover is designed for end use markets including: retail, multi-family, and education. Creative director Pam Rainey developed a color line that reflects current trends within these segments. “Retailers are creating spaces that must reinforce their brands, so the product design is just as crucial as the ability to stand up to heavy foot traffic” she explains. Quiet Cover offers a range of wide plank wood visuals with unique grain textures authentic to each pattern. Rustic styles have heavier embossing, where traditional patterns have a more subtle texture. Rainey included both classic residential hardwood, as well as the more vibrant colors that are gaining popularity in contract design.

Quiet Cover is manufactured from 72 percent recycled material, 39 percent of which is made from postconsumer material. All products are FloorScore certified for low VOC emissions an have an added antimicrobial to defend against bacteria and fungi.
